Up and Coming Piece 'The Hotel'

In January 2009, nice as pie entered into the Launchpad scheme. A programme created and developed by Bath Spa University, the first in the country to create a scheme that incubates a company for professional development. nice as pie competed with 6 other very promising companies from Bath Spa. In May, nice as pie were selected to be one of the two winners of the scheme and subsequently went about creating their second piece.

Synopsis of 'The Hotel'
nice as pie dance theatre invites you to explore 'The Hotel', a curiously interactive and visually vibrant multi-sensory installation performance.
Mysterious, sensorial, witty and insightful, The Hotel explores and exposes the concept of the 'cinderella complex' through the unravelling stories of its residents.

'WE PAY LIP SERVICE TO THE IDEA THAT A WOMAN SHOULD BE EDUCATED AND CAPABLE, BUT THERE REMAINS AN UNSPOKEN BELIEF IN OUR
CULTURE THAT HAPPILY EVER AFTER COMES WITH A PRINCE' (Collette Dowling, 1981).

The company utilises and draws on the youthful femininity of its newly graduated members to produce a culturally relevant and thought provoking dance performance exploring the above subconsious belief that haunts women of all generations.
For ultimate guest satisfaction, The Hotel has employed a receptionist to escort guests around the complex, revealing the fractured existence of three individuals and their unconscious desire to find a modern day prince charming.
Boasting unusual, yet engaging audience interactivity and edgy physicality, nice as pie wish you a pleasurable experience, for at 'The Hotel', you don't just stay, you belong...
